Oxygen Activation Logging

SITAN MP38-WFL Oxygen Activation Logging tools reflect water-flowing conditions inside the oil pipe, in annular space, and outside the oil pipe by detecting the tine spectrum of activation gamma ray. It can calculate flow rate and volume by analyzing the time spectrum of oxygen.


Application


  1. 1. Measure injection profiles in general positive injection wells, general anti-injection wells, oil-enclosed injection wells, and lay water injection wells.
  2. 2. Measure production profile in production wells.
  3. 3. Measure injection profile in polymer and ASP flooding fluids.
  4. 4. Looking for channeling outside the tube to determine the direction of flow and velocity of channeling.
  5. 5. Check the mechanical integrity of downhole tools such as casing leakage, packer leakage, etc.
  6. 6. Monitor leakage points of casing and packers, etc.
  7. 7. Find out casing hole problems and check the effectiveness of secondary or tertiary oil displacement.

Working principle

  • Radiated by higher than 10.2 MeV neutron energy, the oxygen in the water of nuclear power is activated into a radioactive nitrogen nucleus, which has a half-life of 7.13s. Through b-decay and emitting 6.13 MeV and 7.12 MeV energy gamma rays, high-energy neutrons, and high-energy gamma rays can penetrate wellbore fluid, tubing, casing, and cement ring, belonging to the non-contact flow measurement methods (as the following picture).
